Route One

The potential to freeze a debtor's bank account in 11 working days. No Collect - No Commission Fee.

The Route One service is exclusively available to clients of Direct Route and there is little argument that it is one of the most effective actions in UK debt recovery.

Unique

The unique procedure has been developed into its present format over many years in conjunction with specialised debt collection solicitors.

There are several amusing stories surrounding late payment under this process. So many so that we are even considering releasing some of these within the main body of our web site. As a taster one such story involves a major Company Director, on the M1 motorway, on a motorbike, on Christmas Eve, dressed as Santa Claus, with £5000 in cash. Enough said?

On a serious note, it is worth recognising that the UK Inland Revenue, Value Added Tax Offices and other Government Departments often use a lesser version of this action to recover their own outstanding monies.

In view of the above most clients are surprised to find that this action is very often more cost-effective than issuing standard court proceedings.

Why write off monies where debtors have simply moved address?

Direct Route clients have access to this service on a No Find No Fee basis.

Once your debtor has been traced there is no reason that you cannot begin pursuing the debt again using our debt recovery service.

A Cautionary Note

Debtors of this nature tend to be the most elusive. Without a current address any legal action that you have taken against a debtor is rarely enforceable. Unfortunately "Professional Debtors" can skip addresses with frequent ease.

Route One Plus

Put quite simply this is a Route One Action without any cost to the client. It is a product that is exclusive to clients of Direct Route.

How Do We do This ?

The whole key to the process is a "disbursement" insurance policy, arranged by Direct Route in conjunction with its acting solicitors. The cost of the policy is incorporated into the overall process and so there is no charge to clients whatsoever.

The policy covers the cost of all court fees, solicitors fees and other legal disbursements in the event that the debtor company fails to pay, following the presentation of a Route One Action.

Please Note - The only down side is that the policy underwriting criteria is very stringent and so it is not always possible to offer this very obviously attractive benefit to tile client. If a debtor company does not pass the underwriting process then a Route One Action may still be issued (maximum client exposure -œ380.00 disbursements).

How Often Can We Do This ?

Our initial findings are that around 1 In 4 proposed Route One Actions satisfy the underwriting criteria and thus qualify for the process.

Can This Action Be Used In Conjunction with The Fairway Charging Structure?

Yes. Commission charges of zero percent apply to debts of œ3000 or less, with the same nominal commission of 2% only for higher value transactions.

When Is This Service Offered To Clients ?

Initially we recommend use of the Fairway service.

Direct Route will automatically begin the underwriting process that same day. By the time the first letter has expired (generally 7 days) the vetting process will usually have been completed.

Direct Route will approach the Client to advise of legal options at the appropriate time. Assuming the debtor company has passed the policy underwriting criteria, and the debt meets all other Route One requirements, then we will offer two options:

1. Standard Court proceedings at a cost of £XXX in line with the Court sliding scale

2. Issue a Route One Action at a cost of œ NIL.

Direct Route Ireland

In late 2004 Direct Route, in line with its ongoing and rapid expansion, opened an office in Cork, Ireland.

This decision was brought upon by the growing number of clients with dealings and debt problems in the Irish Republic.

To overcome "parochial" circumstances it is clearly beneficial to be located on the same shores as the debtor companies themselves.
